Environmental Day

Sunday, June 6, 2010

The Westport-Weston Interfaith Council hosted its annual Environmental Day on Sunday, June 6th, at Saugatuck Congregational Church. Families of all faiths celebrated the Earth on this day with wonderful music and art, and healthy produce. Over $100 and 7 bags of healthy food donations were collected for the Westport Department of Human Services, helping neighbors in our own town this summer. The Farmer’s Market donated an additional 8 bags of fresh produce for the Department of Human Services, as well as their bountiful donation EVERY Sunday to the Park City Initiative in Bridgeport.

The Green Art exhibit included beautiful and thought-provoking contributions from many people, from preschool children to established artists. A special part of the exhibit was Samantha Sorrentino’s installation, “Abuse of Women and Children in the World.” To read more about it, please click here.
