The Rev. Betsy J. Tobak and the Rev. Howie Tobak

The Reverend Howard (Howie) Tobak joined Saugatuck as Interim Minister effective February 15, 2010. Howie has more than 20 years experience as an Interim Minister. He comes to us from Norwich Congregational Church in Norwich, Vermont where he served as their Senior Interim Minister. Howie was raised in New York City. Following 8 years in the chemical industry as a Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager, he enrolled at Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine to study for the Christian ministry.

Howie has served congregations in Connecticut, Maine, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts and Vermont. He is one of 65 authorized ministers and rabbis from 24 religious bodies in North America to attain the Interim Ministry Network designation of “Professional Transition Specialist.”

His wife, the Rev. Betsy J. Tobak, a former independent bookstore manager, and an Ordained Minister in the United Church of Christ, was born and raised in Connecticut. They have been married for 16 years.

Howie will be preaching on February 21st at both the 8:00 and 10:00AM services. There will be an opportunity to meet Howie and his wife Betsy during Fellowship Hour that day. Additional opportunities to get to know them will be communicated shortly. Please join us in welcoming Howie and Betsy to Saugatuck!
