Volunteers Needed!

Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes

When: Saturday, October 15, 2011, 10:00AM – 2:00PM
Where: 66 Elmwood Avenue, Bridgeport

Homes for the BraveDuring our Field of Flags event in June/July of 2010, we placed 5,543 American flags on our great lawn in honor of each American casualty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our goal was to raise awareness and funds for the Homes for the Brave and the creation of Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes — a new transitional home for some of Connecticut's homeless female veterans and their young children. The ribbon-cutting will be Friday, October 21st at 10:00AM.

To help them prepare for the ribbon-cutting, we have been invited to help out assist with the final touches of gardening and planting. Oliver Nurseries will deliver the planting material along with a plot plan. All you need to bring is your gloves, tools, and willingness to help out! A group of high school students will be there from 10AM-1PM to do the heavy lifting, including removing shrubs.
