Congratulations to Frank Basler on his unanimous approval during his Ecclesiastical Council!
Your friends at Saugatuck wish you the best of luck as you seek a call on your path to ordination.
Come to Frank Basler’s Ecclesiastical Council!

at 4:00 in the Sanctuary
As many of you know, Frank has been “In Care” at Saugatuck for more than two years in his path toward ordination in the United Church of Christ. Russ Brenneman, Bonnie Brown, and Bill Morse have served as his In Care committee and have been meeting with him periodically for support and feedback. He has also reported on his progress to our Board of Deacons, who originally authorized him to be taken In Care.
This fall he completed the requirements the Committee on Ministry of our Fairfield West Association asked for, and that group approved this final step. An EcclesiasticalCouncil is a meeting to which all clergy and lay delegates from each of the churches in our Association are invited. Frank will read selections from his (20 page!) ordination paper; the voting members will ask him questions, and then they will take a vote.
If the vote is positive, Frank will be able to put his profile on the UCC website and look for a “call,” i.e. a full- or part-time position in a church or church related organization. Once he has that first position, he will then be ordained.
So, come and support Frank on the 20th! The meeting should take less than an hour, and you’ll be invited for refreshments and socializing in Hoskins Hall afterwards.
