Georgette Huie, Youth Director

Georgette has been active in children's and youth ministry for over thirty
years. Most of this was on a volunteer basis, teaching church school and leading
youth groups at her home church in Chinatown, San Francisco. The programs at
the Presbyterian Church in Chinatown involved hundreds of children and teenagers
every week throughout the year, and especially during the summers!
After graduating from seminary in 2002, Georgette was happy to be paid as a
youth minister. She has served as the Interim Minister for Christian Education
and Youth at UCC, Southbury, and as the Acting Assistant Minister at First Congregational
Church in Danbury.

Prior to her church career, Georgette worked in software sales and systems engineering
for IBM. She has also worked as a teacher of college-level mathematics
and statistics. She is currently certified to teach math in Connecticut and California,
so feel free to bring her your questions about both algebra and the Bible!
Georgette has served in volunteer leadership roles for a number of church and
community organizations, and is currently employed part-time as the Business Development Manager at In-The- Making, a non-profit entity in Waterbury serving low-income women.

Georgette enjoys cooking, playing guitar, traveling, and rooting for San Francisco sports teams (she likes rooting for underdogs). And she, of course, enjoys working with young people.
