A warm welcome to you!  Thanks for checking out our web site to learn more about us here at Saugatuck Congregational Church in Westport, CT.  We are a congregation of the United Church of Christ, a mainline Protestant denomination.

Saugatuck Church is a growing, compassionate congregation.  Our vision - and our hope- is to be:

A Community of Christ Welcoming All People and
Learning to Love and Serve God and Neighbor

Saugatuck Congregational Church was founded in Westport in 1832.  At that time it was on the other side of the street, across the Post Road.  In 1950 the church was physically moved down the Post Road to its present location.  That event stands as a strong symbol of the Saugatuck Church - a church with deep historic roots, but a church willing to be "on the move".  We welcome you to move forward into the future with us.

A few sentences from our church's constitution will indicate the foundation on which we are based:

"Saugatuck Church is a community of persons who confess a faith in God as revealed in Jesus Christ.  It acknowledges as brothers and sisters in Christ all who share in this confession.  It looks to the Word of God in the Scriptures, and to the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, to prosper its creative and redemptive work in the world".

If you would like to know more about our faith, please locate the Statement of Faith and our Covenant under the Online Resources.  You can find out more about our denomination there as well.

We have a strong team of leaders and teachers who offer relevant and engaging programs throughout the year. We focus on helping you understand your faith whatever your age may be. A part of our ministry is to help people discover their unique gifts and find a place to use them in the world as we connect our faith to action.

Our secretary/receptionist, Marcia Harrington, is ready to greet you and assist you in any way possible. The church's office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm at 227-1261.
